Quando molto precede la forma comparativa di un aggettivo o un avverbio può essere tradotto con much, very much, far, a lot (colloquiale), ma non con very: È molto più giovane di me, he's much younger than me (non he's very younger than me); Come al solito, il libro è molto migliore del film, as usual, the book is far better than the film; Utilizzando questo software, la traduzione può essere fatta molto più velocemente, using this software, the translation can be done much more quickly; Negli Stati Uniti la benzina è molto meno cara che in Italia, in the USA gas is much less expensive than in Italy.

Gli stessi termini inglesi servono a tradurre molto quando quest'ultimo precede la combinazione più + nome: Abbiamo avuto bisogno di molto più tempo di quanto avessimo previsto, we needed much (o a lot o far) more time than we had envisaged. Se il nome è plurale, al posto di much si deve usare many: Ho molti più problemi adesso di qualche anno fa, I have many (o a lot o far) more problems now than I used to have a few years ago.
